‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ was in my top three favorite movies of 2015, and for good reason.
Tom Hardy plays the man of few words, Max, and Charlize Theron plays the bad-ass Furiosa as our two main leads. Hardy does a fine job for all of the small number of actual lines he has, but Theron is so crazy good as the heroine. Her character is such a strong woman that can also drive a car, and her performance is so believable. Even as Charlize Theron and the other acting is top-notch, the thing that really puts this movie over the top is the imagination and effects.
I’ll admit that the plot of ‘Mad Max’ is basically non-existent, but you can easily forgive that when you realize that almost all of the effects and stunts and practical. I saw a behind the scenes look at the filming of the polecat scenes and it’s pretty spectacular. The fact that the director that made the stunts happen, George Miller, was 70 years old just makes it that much better to me too.
All that is left to say is SEE THIS MOVIE! When I saw the trailers for it, I had zero interest in seeing it and went to the theater on a whim. It’s a visual spectical and made a huge impact on cinema. Sure Tom Hardy doesn’t do the most impressive Australian accent and the plot is “let’s drive this way, now lets turn around” but it is 100% worth a watch just to witness a part of history.
