Best Movies of the Summer: June 2016

I’m gonna say it. This summer movie season was disappointing. A bunch of movies came out that weren’t as good as they could have been (I’m looking at you Batfleck), but there were also a few movies that really stood out. I decided that I’m going to pick my favorite movie of each summer month to make my list of the best movies of the summer. 

My favorite movie of June is about a story about family doing everything to stay together, even when the odds are stacked against them. And no I’m not talking about ‘Finding Dory’. ‘The Conjuring 2’ is my personal favorite movie of June 2016. 

I am a huge horror movie junkie. It is one of my favorite genres because if it is done well, it will stick with you forever. In the same way, if it’s done poorly it will be instantly forgotten. ‘The Conjuring 2’ is such a rare occurrence because not only is it a great and scary horror movie, but it’s a SEQUEL. Yes a good sequel. Horror movies have a bad reputation for sequels. ‘The Ring 2’, ‘Sinister 2’, and ‘Halloween: Ressurrection’ just to name a few. ‘The Conjuring 2’ succeeds because it didn’t try to do too much. It probably had a bigger budget due to the success of the first one, but it was still kept on a small scale. Just some good, genuine horror. 

I know this may not be what most people would pick as the best movie of June, but there wasn’t much to choose from, and this movie is by far one of the best. Would recommend.
